Trading Software or Websites Not Connecting (DNS)

In some cases when a website or trading software doesn’t connect it’s because your Internet Service Provider’s Domain Name System (DNS) name registration is out of date which means that when your computer requests a website and then it gets sent to the wrong place. To resolve this issue you will need to switch your DNS server addresses under your adapter settings. Follow this step by step guide to switch your DNS server.

Step 1
Click on your Start button and type “run“. Now Click on it to launch.


Step 2
Once the Run application has launched copy the following command : control.exe /name Microsoft.NetworkAndSharingCenter. After you have copied the command paste it into the Run dialog box Press Enter or Click “OK”.


Step 3
Now that the Networking and Sharing Center has popped up Click on “Change adapter settings“.


Step 4
Find the Ethernet adapter or Wireless adapter that you are currently using Right Click on it, Click on Properties.


Step 5
Once the Ethernet or Wireless Properties box appears locate Internet Protocol Version 4 select it by clicking on it. Then Click “Properties”.


Step 6
Excellent now Click on “Use the following DNS server addresses”. Now that the field are available for edit in the Preferred DNS server field enter:8.8.8.8 and in the Alternate DNS server field enter:8.8.4.4. Once complete Click “OK”.


Step 7
Now Click “Close”. Give your computer a quick reboot and you should be good to go.
